UPDATE 4/8/2022: The game’s PC release has also been confirmed via a recently posted Steam page. However, Valve’s platform does not yet mark any estimated release date, so it is unknown if it will be released at the same time as the console versions.
Shin-chan’s new game, Shin-chan: My Summer with the Professor – The Infinite Week has revealed its official release date via the Nintendo Switch eShop page. It will go on sale next August 11, and will cost 35’99 euros. Until August 10, there is an offer by which we can buy the game with a 10% discount in the Nintendo store.
Shin-chan: My Summer with the Professor is the new adventure of Kaz Ayabe, author of the saga Boku no Natsuyasumi, which never left Japan, or the somewhat better known Attack of the Friday Monsters! for Nintendo 3DS. From what we have been able to see through the gameplay, it is a sweet and pleasant life simulator based on the franchise in which we can fish, collect insects and perform various tasks.

The new Shin-chan game will have a physical edition on PS4 and Nintendo SwitchLimited Run Games will be responsible for distributing the physical version of Shin-chan: My Summer with the Professor – The Infinite Week in a regular and collector’s edition.

A physical copy of Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation – The Endless Seven-Day Journey will also be coming to the West courtesy of the good folks at Limited Run Games. There will be both a regular physical edition and a collector’s edition. Limited Run’s versions will be available for both PS4 and Nintendo Switch (US and EU versions), we can read in the official press release.
The Shin-chan video game will be available from August 11 on Nintendo Switch via Nintendo eShop and shortly after to PlayStation 4 via PlayStation Store and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The release date for the rest of platforms will be announced “soon”, although it has been confirmed that the price in all of them will be 39,99 €. However, as we informed you yesterday, users of each system will be able to enjoy a 10% discount for a limited time. Thus, Nintendo Switch users can pre-order the game in the online store at a price of 35,99 € until August 10.

However, there is still a window of hope. The developer Kaz Ayabe assured that he would do “everything possible to release the European version”. With no news on the matter, we can delight ourselves with its new trailer, showing the adventures of Shinnosuke Nohara.
As if that wasn’t enough, the arrival of a Premium Box has also been announced. This is a limited edition of the game that includes an art book, a beautiful case, a diary illustrated by Shin Chan of Ultrahero and a download for the soundtrack. It will cost 8,980 yen, or 69 euros.

Recientemente he estado viendo por primera vez en más de una década la genuinamente todavía muy buena Phineas y Ferb, una serie que trata esencialmente de hacer absolutamente todo lo que puedas en las vacaciones de verano. La absurdidad de la serie es maravillosa, pero si la reducimos a “hacer MUCHO mientras es verano”, no me resulta tan fácil de entender. Por eso es ligeramente irónico que haya estado jugando a Shin Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation, un juego en el que no haces casi nada, algo que me refleja mucho mejor. Y te permite no hacer nada de la forma más relajante posible.
Antes de hablar de por qué un juego en el que no haces mucho es de alguna manera algo bueno, necesitamos un contexto importante. Puede que Shin Chan te resulte familiar si, como yo, lo veías en Cartoon Network cuando eras niño, pero es menos probable que conozcas la serie Summer Vacation.
Boku no Natsuyasumi (o Mis vacaciones de verano) apareció originalmente en la primera PlayStation en el año 2000, pero desgraciadamente nunca se publicó en inglés. Fue realizado por el desarrollador Millenium Kitchen, que también hizo Shin Chan: Me and the Professor, y es simplemente un juego sobre un joven que explora un pueblo rural. Recoges bichos, tapones de botellas y conoces a los lugareños, y no mucho más. Y aunque no he tenido la oportunidad de jugar al juego debido a la barrera del idioma, parece exactamente lo mismo.
